Association of Indiana Solid Waste Management Districts
Indiana's sixty-five solid waste management districts along with their associates are dedicated to the principals of responsible integrated solid waste management, ensuring a better today and tomorrow.

Earth 911
Earth 911 provides community-specific resources to improve quality of life, promotes public service across the nation, and centralizes environmental resources into one user-friendly network.

Environmental Protection Agency
There are several EPA sites which have information to help you with your recycling efforts:

  • Waste Prevention: Waste that is not created does not have to be managed later, that's why waste prevention (reducing and reusing) is the ideal solid waste solution. Waste prevention involves altering the design, manufacture, purchase, or use of products and materials to reduce the amount and toxicity of what gets thrown away. Waste prevention is sometimes called source reduction because it reduces or eliminates pollution at the source.
  • EPA's main recycling page includes: an overview, the recycling process, facts and figures, opportunities, recycling publications, and links.
  • Visit Recycle City! There's lots to do here - people and places to visit and plenty of ways to explore how this city's residents recycle, reduce, and reuse waste.
  • EPA offers links to many publication sources Visit their Web site for resource that cover topics for managing solid waste in shopping centers to how state and local governments can measure their recycling efforts.
  • WasteWise is a free, voluntary, EPA program which helps organizations eliminate costly municipal solid waste, benefiting the bottom line and the environment. WasteWise provides free technical assistance to help you develop, implement, and measure your waste reduction activities.

Greening the Government
Established by Executive Order 99-07, and continued by Governor Daniels through EO 05-21, the state of Indiana became dedicated to improving the environmental performance of all state operations. To ensure government operational policies "walk the talk" of environmental stewardship, the Executive Order established a Taskforce which is co-chaired by the Departments of Administration and Environmental Management and has members from twelve major State agencies.

Indiana Economic Development Corporation
Businesses can find information on additional funding and resources available to them through the state. Often a new company who wants to recycle, may want to revitalize an area or need help in refurbishing a building. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation can help.

Indiana Office of Energy and Defense Development
The Office of Energy & Defense Development (OED) was established to enhance Indiana's potential for links in energy and defense for economic development and national security. OED offers funding for projects involving alternative power and energy, alternative transportation fuels, energy efficiency, and energy outreach, education, and planning.

Indiana Recycling Coalition
The Indiana Recycling Coalition, Inc. (IRC) was formed by a group of dedicated volunteers in 1989, the IRC is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization representing concerned citizens, state and local government officials, business, industry and environmental groups.

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc.
The Indianapolis Recycles Drop-Off Program is a partnership between the City of Indianapolis and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful serves as a network between companies and organizations that collect materials for recycling/reuse and YOU, the community!

National Recycling Coalition
The National Recycling Coalition is a membership organization of recycling professionals and advocates dedicated to maximizing recycling.

Solid Waste Association of North America
For over 40 years, the Solid Waste Association of North America has been the leading professional association in the solid waste field.
