Welcome to Recycle Indiana! The recycling section of IDEM aims to reduce municipal solid waste and help Indiana reach and sustain a recycling rate of 50 percent. The recycling section staff work with partners across the state to promote recycling and provide technical assistance to individuals, businesses, solid waste management districts, schools, municipalities, and other organizations to find appropriate disposal methods for recyclable materials.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will host a virtual meeting on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. EDT to discuss the development of the Indiana State Materials Management Plan (MMP).
The MMP aims to provide a state-wide roadmap to improve how post-consumer materials are managed and reduce waste across the state. This initial virtual meeting will provide more details, introduce the parties facilitating the plan's development, provide a project timeline and answer questions.
Your participation will be instrumental to developing a new comprehensive MMP that promotes a circular economy for materials, while supporting statewide efforts to advance pre- and post-consumer materials management.
- WHO: Recycling and waste management stakeholders across Indiana are invited to attend, including solid waste haulers, municipalities, recyclers, manufacturers, composters, educational institutions, non-profit advocacy groups, solid waste management districts, environmental contractors, industry groups and others.
- WHAT: Project introduction meeting (virtual) to discuss the development of the MMP.
- WHEN: Wednesday, April 23, 2025; 2:00-3:30 p.m. EDT.
- WHERE: Virtual meeting - Registration closes one hour prior to the start of the meeting.
