Pursue a Career with the State Board of Accounts

The State Board of Accounts is seeking highly motivated professionals to join our auditing staff. As a Field Examiner you will be responsible for auditing governmental units throughout the state. These units include schools, counties, cities, towns, universities, hospitals, townships, libraries, and state agencies. Our agency also establishes accounting systems for governmental entities and provides expertise in information technology systems.

A Great Benefit Package

A 4-day work week is available for all employees with little demand for overtime. There is also flexibility in the selection of a daily work schedule. Work related travel from the examiner's home is reimbursed. Continuing professional education is provided at no cost to the individual and complies with governmental and professional accounting licensing requirements. The State of Indiana offers a comprehensive benefit package which includes medical insurance, dental insurance, optical insurance, a deferred compensation plan, and a state retirement plan. A generous vacation, sick, and personal leave policy is also included.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with a 4-year degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field with enough hours to take the CPA exam. Serious applicants should have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. Indiana Code 5-11-1-8 requires that applicants successfully pass a competitive examination.
