Chief of Staff
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, N. Davey Neal is honored to return to the Secretary of State’s office as Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary of State. Neal previously served on the executive staff of Secretaries of State Sue Anne Gilroy and Todd Rokita.
Prior to joining Secretary Lawson, Neal was appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels to serve as Executive Secretary of the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. Before that, he spent three years in the private sector as a business development professional in the event production industry.
During Governor Daniels first term, Neal served in several different roles with the Indiana Department of Labor and the Lt. Governor’s office.
Neal successfully completed a joint JD / MBA program at Indiana University. He was graduated from the Kelley School of Business in December, 2010 and the Robert H. McKinney School of Law in May, 2011. Neal is admitted to practice law in Indiana. He received his bachelor’s degree in history from Wabash College.
Neal is a registered civil mediator and is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association. He is a lecturer for the IndyBar’s bar exam prep course. He is an active volunteer for the Indiana Sports Corporation – most recently serving on the Host Committee for Super Bowl XLVI and on the organizing committee for the 2006 and 2010 Men’s Final Four.
Neal resides in Indianapolis with his wife, Heather, and their three children.
