DePauw Student Completes Fellowship with Secretary of State's Office

Indianapolis, IN - Courtney Figg, of Dugger has recently completed a summer-long fellowship program with Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita, during which she rotated among the respective divisions of the Secretary of State's office. Figg's previous government experience includes internships with Indiana Eighth District Congressman John Hostettler and U.S. Senator Richard Lugar.

"Courtney's hard work, leadership, and dedication during the Fellowship Program provided a great service to my office as well as to the people of Indiana," Rokita said. "I applaud her commitment to become more involved in public service, and I wish her continued success in her academics and beyond."

Figg, a junior at DePauw University, is working toward degrees in English literature and political science and plans to attend law school after graduation from DePauw. In addition, she serves as an officer in her sorority and the College Republicans. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

"The experience I have gained from the Secretary of State's Fellowship Program cannot be measured," Figg said. "Whether working with entrepreneurs as they registered their business in the Business Services Division or learning how the Securities Division protects Indiana investors, each part of the Fellowship has taught me valuable lessons. I am honored to have been given the chance to work with Secretary Rokita and for the people of Indiana."

Figg graduated from Union High School in 2003 as valedictorian of her class. She served as president of the National Beta Club and student council in high school and was a member of the band, choir, academic super bowl team, and quiz bowl team. She is the daughter of Gail Rogers.
