Secretary of State Rokita Requests Voter's Bill of Rights Coverage
Secretary, county clerks to send document to every Indiana precinct

Indianapolis, IN -- Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita today requests Indiana media outlets to plan to include a copy of the Voter's Bill of Rights as part of upcoming primary election coverage or in public service announcements. The Voter's Bill of Rights was approved by the Indiana Election Commission in March 2003.

"I am happy to present the Voter's Bill of Rights to Hoosier voters. It is a top priority of my office to safeguard every vote," said Secretary Rokita. "This Voter's Bill of Rights is a plain language document about accessibility and accountability; accessibility for those who have the right to vote and accountability for those who intend to commit fraud. I look forward to providing the Voter's Bill of Rights for display in all precincts throughout the state and for publication in all media outlets."

Secretary Rokita's office is currently developing a poster for the Voter's Bill of Rights so that it may be easily displayed in polling places and in news media election coverage. The poster will be produced in English and in Spanish. Secretary Rokita will distribute the document to election officials later this month and ask each of the county clerks to post the Bill in every precinct.

A copy of the Voter's Bill of Rights is available at the Secretary of State's website: www.sos.IN.gov. For more information, please contact Secretary Rokita's office at 317.232.6584.
