Prosecution Assistance Unit
About the Prosecution Assistance Unit
The Prosecution
Assistance Unit was created
within the Enforcement Section
of the Securities Division to
assist law enforcement
agencies in prosecuting
white collar criminals.
Currently the unit includes
two attorneys and two
investigators devoted exclusively
to the enforcement of the
criminal provisions of the
Indiana Securities Act, the
Indiana Loan Broker Act
and related statutes. The
Unit operates under the direction and supervision of the Securities
Commissioner and the
Senior Investigator.

As part of the Prosecution Assistance Unit's effort to assist other law enforcement personnel with securities law issues, the PAU staff has created training programs designed to educate and inform sworn police officers, prosecutors and other law enforcement personnel.

PREVIOUS TRAINING OFFERED:
- October 31 - November 2, 2006, The PAU and the Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network ("MAGLOCLEN") sponsored "Follow The Money" training seminar at the Indiana Government Conference Center.
- On April 4, 2006 through April 9, 2006, one of the PAU attorneys served as an instructor at the Advanced Securities Litigation Training Seminar in Louisville, Colorado. The seminar was sponsored by the North American Securities Administrators and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
- On March 1, 2006, The PAU conducted a pre-basic training session at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy for new police recruits.
- On January 26, 2006, the Division sponsored a seminar by Purdue University, which was attended by representatives of various state and county agencies. Purdue staff, Scott Ksander and Marcus Rogers, presented information on computer forensics, computer forensic tools, and how they can be utilized by law enforcement agencies.
- On January 19, 2006, the Division sponsored a seminar by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission attended by representatives of various state and federal agencies. The Commodities Futures Trading Commission Act, 7 U.S.C.S. § 1 et seq. is unique in that it authorizes state securities officials to bring federal lawsuits to enforce the Act and the Commission solicits the assistance of state and local law enforcement personnel in enforcing the criminal provisions of the Act.
