Backyard BBQ Cook-off
Who is the best backyard grill master in Indiana? This competition is open to all ages and residents of Indiana. We look forward to a great day of delicious grilled foods, friendly competition, great pork sampling, and fun music.

Young Hoosier State Pianist Competition
Presented by Piano Solutions -Young pianists ages 5 to 18 from around the state compete in the finals in the preliminary rounds with the finals hosted in the Home & Family Arts Building 3rd floor auditorium during the Fair.

Young Hoosier State Violinist Competition
Presented by Piano Solutions and Frank's Violins - The competition invites young violinists from around the state to perform and compete on the Performing Arts Stage in the Home & Family Arts Building. The competition is open to violinists ages 5 to 22 who are Indiana Residents.

BIG Cookie Decorating Contest  
A giant plain cookie will be provided for each contestant to decorate. Themes for 2014 are TBD. Get creative…with icing, candies, chocolate chips, raisins, nuts… anything edible that fits your design and tastes yummy. Plan and practice making your design at home using a 6-inch circle of paper as your canvas. Send in your entry form to register. Then bring your cookie decorations and utensils to the Home & Family Arts Building to create your cookie masterpiece.

Smoothie Contest
Calling all kids and teens – get creative in the kitchen! Choose your favorite lowfat milk and/or lowfat yogurt and add your own special ingredients – fruits, veggies, spices, chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter…the sky’s the limit…and whip up a blue-ribbon smoothie.

Canning with Mrs. Wages Pickle Recipe Contest
Kent Precision Foods, Inc., makers of Mrs. Wages® Home Canning Mixes, is proud to recognize food preservationists, who like Mrs. Wages, hold a high standard for quality ingredients and a belief that food preservation should be celebrated and shared. This contest asks home canners to create an original pickle recipe using Mrs. Wages® Pickling Mix or other Mrs. Wages® product and bring their blue-ribbon-seeking pickles to the State Fair.

Year of the Coliseum Special Recipe Contest
In honor of the “Year of the Coliseum” and the completed renovation of this historic 75-year-old building, this contest seeks your favorite old-time recipe updated to the 21st Century. Maybe Grandma’s applesauce cake or hearty meat loaf that was brought to the State Fair every year in the family picnic basket…or your prize-winning 4-H cookies, yeast bread or apple pie…You get the idea!

Little Red Door Cancer Agency’s Eat Well, Live Well Recipe Contest
For all those interested in preventing cancer before it starts, this contest is for you! Little Red Door Cancer Agency invites you to create a tasty and healthy dish featuring ingredients that have been proven to lower your risk for cancer. Your creation can be any type of recipe…appetizer, main dish, salad, beverage even dessert. Bring your prepared recipe to the Indiana State Fair where the judges will select the best-tasting, cancer-fighting creations.

Indiana Pork Producers Bacon Recipe Contest
Calling all bacon lovers…this contest is for you! The Indiana Pork Producers invite you to create a tasty dish featuring the crisp, smoky goodness of one of America’s most popular varieties of The Other White meat – bacon. Your creation can be any type of recipe…appetizer, main dish, salad, bread even dessert. Select one of the two categories: Savory or Sweet, and bring your prepared recipe to the Indiana State Fair where the judges will select the best blue-ribbon bacon entries.

Burton’s Maplewood Farm: Cooking with Syrup Contest
Indiana artisan, Tim Burton and his family, owners of Burton’s Maplewood Farm in Medora want to encourage all Hoosiers to discover and experience the natural goodness, unique flavor and consistency of 100% pure maple syrup. So Burton’s Maplewood Farm is sponsoring this special Cooking with Maple Syrup recipe contest. Create a savory main dish, side dish or snack or a yummy bread, cake or other sweet treat and bring your dish and recipe to the State Fair. The judges will select the blue-ribbon-best creations that feature this delicious natural sweetener – pure maple syrup.
