Brown County Girlfriend Getaway
Enjoy the peace, serenity and scenic views of Brown County, Indiana. Experience a variety of outdoor activities in the state's largest state park, Brown County State Park.
Day One
Start your day at the Visitors Center and receive a Valued Visitors Discount Card, offering discounts at area shops, dining, entertainment and lodging facilities. Then start shopping! It might take a while there are over 240 shops, studios and galleries.
Visit Joybell Theater and Gift Shop to hear Kristine Stout, handbell soloist, play a variety of music on her 37 English bells. It’s a delight for all ages!
Before lunch enjoy wine tasting at the Brown County Winery, then head next door to the Nashville House famous for its fried biscuits and apple butter.
Head north to Helmsburg to tour the For Bare Feet Factory where thousands of specialty socks are made daily.
Story Inn in Story, offers a variety of fine wines and a full-course dinner for any hearty appetite. Catch a show at one of Nashville’s local theatres such as Brown County Playhouse, Coachlight Musical or The Little Nashville Opry.

Day Two
Visit Brown County State Park and work up an appetite hiking and horse back riding in one of the State’s most popular parks. For lunch, enjoy the buffet at Abe Martin Lodge.
A short jaunt away is the T.C. Steele State Historic Site, the original home and studio of famous early 1900s Hoosier landscape artist T.C. Steele. Experience the beautiful landscape Steele was so fond. Explore his gardens and grounds hiking trails, you’ll encounter seven of the vistas Steele depicted in some of his paintings.
Visit old-fashioned hardware store, Bear Hardware, where you can find household treasures and then the Brown County Antique Mall, where more treasures await: homemade rockers, pottery are among the finds.
For dinner, indulge in the Artists Colony Inn’s fried sweet potatoes and brown sugar dipping sauce. If your feet aren’t tired yet, then kick up your heels and enjoy some country cooking at Mike's Music and Dance Barn.
