Supervised Release System

What is the Supervised Release System?

The Supervised Release System (SRS) is a web-based case management system developed in-house by the Indiana Office of Court Technology (IOCT) through a partnership with the Marion Superior Court, Indiana Office of Court Services (IOCS) and the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC). The system is part of the INcite framework and is used to manage offenders under community supervision through Probation, Community Corrections, Problem-Solving Court Programs, Court Alcohol & Drug Programs, and Pretrial Services agencies. The application was first deployed to Marion County in December 2016 and has since been deployed to hundreds of other community supervision agencies across the state of Indiana.

Much of the SRS expansion was due to IOCT’s partnership with the Community Corrections Division of the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) in 2018, which promised to deploy SRS to each of the 77 community corrections agencies across the state by December 2020. In addition to this aggressive deployment track, IOCT has continued to deploy SRS to probation departments and problem-solving court entities, with over 200 community supervision agencies utilizing the application today.

The SRS application is the only application for community supervision that interfaces with the statewide Odyssey Case Management System to display warrant information, court hearings, chronological case summaries, and scanned court documents directly from the court’s official record. Additionally, SRS is the only system that directly connects to other statewide initiatives that are housed within INcite. These initiatives include the Risk Assessment application, Abstract of Judgment, Case Planning application, Presentence Investigation application and Juvenile Reporting application. SRS also collects required data for probation and community corrections quarterly reporting, annual reports for problem-solving court performance measures, court alcohol & drug program data, and pretrial release performance metrics guided by the implementation of Criminal Rule 26.

In addition to the case management capabilities and data collection functions of SRS, the application uniquely provides a work release component and financial/accounting capabilities. The work release feature is used by community corrections agencies to manage offenders housed in their facility by creating a recurring job schedule, assigning one-time passes, and checking offenders in and out of their facility. The financial component allows agencies to assess monies and receipt in payments, as well as manage the accounting of all financial records for the department.
