Pretrial Grant Program
Purpose. The Indiana Office of Court Services grant program is intended to provide financial assistance to certified pretrial service agencies or those in the planning stages pursuant to IC 35-33-8 and the Pretrial Service Rules as adopted by the Judicial Conference of Indiana.
Scope. The grant application is open to all Indiana pretrial service agencies certified by the Indiana Office of Court Services at the grant application period. Agencies in the planning stages must have the following to seek financial assistance through this application:
- notification to the Indiana Office of Court Services of an intent to establish a pretrial services agency
- local pretrial policy team
- local pretrial point of contact for pretrial services
Priority consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating a commitment to allocate local resources to support pretrial service agency operations with a goal of becoming self-sustaining.
If your agency received previous pretrial funding, all required reports must be current for funding consideration.
Amount. There is no maximum amount that agencies can apply for. However, funding decisions will be impacted by the amount of funds available.
Courts may submit applications for costs related to:
- personnel (salary and benefits)
- public defender or prosecutor contractual services
- program evaluation expenses
- training for staff and local stakeholders ($5,000 maximum)
Other requests may be considered depending on fund availability.
