State of the Judiciary scheduled for January 29

Indiana Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush will address the Governor and a joint session of the Indiana General Assembly for the annual State of the Judiciary. The formal update on the work of the judicial branch will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. (Eastern) in the chamber of the Indiana House of Representatives.

The Chief Justice is required to provide lawmakers with an update on the “condition of the courts” according to Article 7, Section 3, of the Indiana Constitution. The 2025 address, Your Indiana Judiciary, will focus on how the courts resolve the 1.1 million new cases filed each year. Chief Justice Rush will concentrate on the courts’ work to protect children, enhance economic stability, strengthen public safety, and promote access to justice.

The address will be webcast live at courts.in.gov. Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations will also air the address. Media organizations interested in attending should contact Kathryn Dolan, Supreme Court Chief Public Information Officer, at kathryn.dolan@courts.in.gov.
