MIKE ALLEY
Cicero

Mike woke up around 6 a.m. last June 22 and noticed the blinds of his bedroom window “absolutely orange with fire.” He grabbed his Nikon D70 and drove to the nearest field with a wide open view—west of town on Tollgate Road—to document the scene before the lighting changed. VIVIAN BROWN
Wayne County, near Connersville

Vivian’s summer mornings usually include coffee on her deck. When she noticed this bluebird yanking coco fiber from a planter on the deck, she quietly grabbed her Nikon Coolpix P510. The bird continued its hard work, taking the fiber back to the bluebird house behind her garden as Vivian shot. Vivian's summer mornings usually include coffee on her deck.
