About the Secretary

Secretary Mitch Roob's Headshot

FSSA Secretary Mitch Roob

E. Mitchell (Mitch) Roob was named Secretary of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration by Governor Mike Braun and began his tenure on Jan. 13, 2025. Roob has deep experience as a leader in healthcare and previously served as FSSA Secretary from 2005-2009 under then-Governor Mitch Daniels. He was the principal architect of Governor Daniels’ innovative Healthy Indiana Plan to address the issues of high rates of smoking, low rates of childhood immunizations and the growing number of uninsured Hoosiers.

Roob is also serving as interim director of the Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning.

Most recently Roob was a Senior Policy Advisor with Bose Public Affairs Group. He also served as President and CEO of Wound Vision, a medical hardware and software technology firm.

He also served as the Secretary of Commerce and CEO of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation under Governor Daniels. He had previously been the President of the Marion County Health & Hospital Corporation and Chief Operating Officer of the Indianapolis Water Company.

Roob earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Notre Dame.
