As Deputy GIO, Marianne led key IGIO initiatives, including the annual Data Harvest, State Imagery and Elevation Programs, and cross-government outreach efforts to strengthen public and private partnerships. Now, as Indiana’s Geographic Information Officer, Marianne will ensure the state meets the GIS requirements outlined in IC 4-23-7.3 and will continue to enhance Indiana’s GIS infrastructure in support of state agencies, counties, and local governments.
Regarding her predecessors in this role, Marianne shared, "I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible contributions of Jim Sparks and Megan Compton to the growth and success of IGIO. Through their vision, dedication, and leadership, they have transformed the IGIO into the thriving office it is today. Over the years, they have not only served as exemplary leaders but also as inspiring mentors who have shaped my professional journey. Their guidance and support have been invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for the foundation they have built. As I step forward, I am honored to continue their legacy and contribute to the ongoing success of IGIO. Here's to the future, built on the incredible groundwork they have laid!"
The IGIO wants to congratulate Marianne for her appointment and to share that this office looks forward to her leadership in shaping the future of GIS in Indiana!
