INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels committed that
Indiana would be the first state to join the America Supports You team, a nationwide initiative to
showcase and communicate America’s support of our military men and women
and their families. Daniels made the announcement at the Indianapolis Motor
Speedway with the official announcement to follow during the Indianapolis 500.
The governor will place a
link to the America Supports You Web site on the state Web page, www.in.gov, add the America Supports You logo to RV 1, and encourage
Hoosiers to join the America Supports You team and show their support
for our Armed Forces and their families.
“The Indianapolis 500 is a Memorial Day tradition
and an annual tribute to our country’s bravest men and women in uniform
past and present,” said Daniels. “It is entirely fitting that today
I ask Hoosiers to show our men and women in the military their support. We are
honored to be the first state to join America Supports You team and hope
other states will do the same.”
“We are pleased that
the state of Indiana
is joining the America Supports You team,” said Deputy Assistant
Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs Allison Barber. “We look forward to working with Indiana state
communities and businesses to ensure our men and women in uniform and their
families know how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice.”
By communicating these local
and national initiatives to our military members and their families, America
Supports You helps to boost the morale of our men and women in uniform and
provides Americans a venue in which to show their support and appreciation to
our Armed Forces and their families.
