INDIANAPOLIS (June 8, 2005) – The Indiana Utility
Regulatory Commission Nominating Committee is soliciting applications from
persons interested in filling a pending vacancy on the Indiana Utility
Regulatory Commission (IURC).
Applications will be accepted today through June 29. After the
close of the application period, the nominating committee will conduct a public
meeting to interview applicants. The group then will present Governor Mitch
Daniels with a list of the three most highly qualified candidates based on
education and academic honors received, professional experience and reputation,
financial interests in the utility industry, public service and other pertinent
information.
“The work of the IURC is closely tied to Indiana’s future
economic growth, more jobs and higher incomes for the average Hoosier,”
said the governor. “The commission’s key role in ensuring adequate
energy supplies at competitive prices, ample access to
telecommunications/broadband throughout the state, as well as a water and sewer
infrastructure makes this appointment extremely important.”
Members of the nominating committee are Committee Chair
Michael Sample, Jessie L. Moore, Dennis Raetz, who
were appointed by the governor; Ruth Johnson, appointed by Senate President Pro
Tempore Robert Garton; Bernard Krampe, appointed by
Senate Minority leader Richard Young; Michael Evans, appointed by Speaker of
the House Brian Bosma; and Jay Lauer, who was appointed by House Minority
Leader Patrick Bauer. The committee collects, reviews
and recommends candidates to the governor to fill vacancies on the IURC.
