INDIANAPOLIS (September 20, 2005) ? Governor Mitch Daniels announced today the appointment of Donald E. Currie as judge of the Carroll Circuit Court. He succeeds Judge Joseph Carey, who is resigning effective October 1, 2005.
Currie, who is currently in his sixth year as Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Carroll County, is completing a 30-day deployment with the Indiana Army National Guard to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. Since 1990, Currie has served as an officer with the National Guard as a Judge Advocate and currently holds the rank of Major. Last year, he completed a one-year deployment to Bosnia where he served as a Military Justice Attorney. Previously, Currie served as Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Jefferson County, has worked in private practice, and served as a public defender.
?I spoke with Donald about this post last week while he was assisting hurricane victims and thanked him for his devotion to duty. Carroll County citizens will continue to benefit from his strong commitment to public service,? said Governor Daniels. ?He has been a dedicated officer of the court and will bring the utmost integrity to his new position.?
Currie received his undergraduate degree from Valparaiso University and a joint juris doctorate and master of public affairs degree from Indiana University, Indianapolis.
