Cases = 0
There were no cases of rubella reported in Indiana during 2000. Seven cases were reported in the period from 1990-2000 (see Figure Rub1 below). Rubella can be an under-diagnosed illness due to the mild nature of the illness and 30-50% of cases are subclinical or inapparent. Maintaining high immunization levels for rubella is vital to reach the goal of eliminating rubella in the United States.
