An estimated 23,947 children born in 1997 were active patients of local health department immunization clinics but the time they were 24 to 35 months of age. The immunization status of 98.8 percent of these children was assessed in 2000.
An estimated 5,864 children born in 1997 were active patients of the 52 non-health department public providers by the time they were 24 to 35 months of age. The immunization status of 92.4 percent of these children was assessed in 2000.
45.7 percent of the local health departments and 17.3 percent of non-health department public providers had a greater than 90 percent complete coverage by 24 months of age among their two-year old patient population for the diphtheria, tetanus, and cellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine.
73.4 percent of local health departments and 46.2 percent of non-health department public providers had greater than 90 percent complete coverage by 24 months of age among their two-year old patient population for the polio vaccine.
75.5 percent of local health departments and 25.0 percent of non-health department public providers had greater than 90 percent complete coverage by 24 months of age among their two-year old patient population for the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
81.9 percent of local health departments and 46.2 percent of non-health department public providers had greater than 90 percent complete coverage by 24 months of age among their two-year old patient population for the Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib) vaccine.
80.9 percent of local health departments and 51.9 percent of non-health department pubic providers had greater than 90 percent complete coverage by 24 months of age among their two-year old patient population for the Hepatitis B (hep B) vaccine.
41.5 percent of local health departments and 5.8 percent of non-health department public providers had greater then 90 percent complete coverage by 24 months of age of their two-year old patient population for the complete 4 DTaP: 3 Polio: 1 MMR: 3 Hib vaccination series.
Significant drops in coverage occurred between the first and
final doses of both DTaP and hepatitis B vaccines for a majority of public
immunization providers.
