INDIANA INDUCED TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY REPORT
2007
Highlights
- There were 10,887 terminated pregnancies reported in Indiana
in 2007. For additional details, see Table
1a.
- Of the 10,887 women who had a pregnancy terminated (Indiana
occurrences):
- 10,382 (95.4%) were Indiana residents (Table
1b).
- 6,953 (63.9%) of the women were white; 3,173 (29.1%)
were black; 306(2.8%) were of other races; and 455 (4.2%)
were of unknown race (Table 1a).
- 8,922 (82.0%) of the women were non-Hispanic
in origin, and 859 (7.9%) were of Hispanic origin. Ethnicity
was unknown for 1,106 (10.2%) of the women (Table
1a).
- 8,954 (82.2%) of the women who had a pregnancy
terminated were not married; 1,799 (16.5%) were married. Marital
status was unknown for 134 (1.2%) of the women (Table
1a).
- At the time of termination (Indiana occurrences -
Table 1a):
- Less than 1% (52) of the women were under the age
of 15;
- 5.2% (568) were 15-17 years of age;
- 11.2% (1,219) were 18-19 years of age;
- 33.0% (3,593) were 20-24 years of age;
- 23.6% (2,574) were 25-29 years of age;
- 14.3% (1,557) were 30-34 years of age;
- 8.5% (926) were 35-39 years of age;
- 2.7% (295) were 40 years of age or older; and
- Age was unknown for 0.9% (103).
- In 2007, 10,489 (96.3%) of the terminations were performed
in clinics; 398 (3.7%) were performed in hospitals (Indiana
occurrences). See Table
