INDIANA INDUCED TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY REPORT
2013
Highlights
- There were 8,027 terminated pregnancies reported in Indiana
in 2013. For additional details, see Table
1a.
- Of the 8,027 women who had a pregnancy terminated (Indiana
occurrences):
- 7,595 (94.6%) were Indiana residents (Table
1b).
- 4,724 (58.9%) of the women were white; 2,283 (28.4%)
were black; 574 (7.2%) were of other races; and 446 (5.6%)
were of unknown race (Table 1a).
- 6,945 (86.5%) of the women were non-Hispanic
in origin, and 591 (7.4%) were of Hispanic origin.
Ethnicity was unknown for 491 (6.1%) of the women (Table
1a).
- 6,778 (84.4%) of the women who had a pregnancy
terminated were not married; 1,136 (14.2%) were married.
Marital status was unknown for 113 (1.4%) of the women (Table
1a).
- At the time of termination (Indiana occurrences -
Table 1a):
- 0.2% (13) of the women were under the age
of 15;
- 3.8% (305) were 15-17 years of age;
- 7.8% (625) were 18-19 years of age;
- 33.6% (2,700) were 20-24 years of age;
- 25.6% (2,055) were 25-29 years of age;
- 16.6% (1,335) were 30-34 years of age;
- 9.0% (726) were 35-39 years of age;
- 3.0% (243) were 40 years of age or older; and
- Age was unknown for 0.3% (25).
- In 2013, 7,992 (99.6%) of the terminations were performed
in clinics; 35 (0.4%) were performed in hospitals (Indiana
occurrences). See Table
