Corydon Capitol State Historic Site commemorates Indiana’s first state capitol and follows the development of Indiana from a territory to a state. Vincennes, the first territorial capitol, was left on Indiana’s western edge when the Illinois Territory was created and, in 1813, the capitol moved to Corydon, a more central location for Indiana’s population at the time. The historical ride will start at the location of the old statehouse in Corydon and end in Indianapolis at the current statehouse. Equestrian riders, wagons and carriages will participate in the ride.
