The Town Theatre is a 1947 structure that has been closed for nearly nine years and has fallen into disrepair. The Highland Redevelopment Commission purchased the building at a County tax sale and with the approval of the Town Council, is in the process of restoring the beloved structure as a part of their plans for an Arts & Cultural District. The citizens of Highland rallied around the famed landmark and requested the town to bring back the theatre that had a unique feature, an intermission that served cake and coffee in the middle of the movie whether or not there was a planned intermission! This building is the only non-residential building left in Highland of historic significance. It was considered a potential historic site by the Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Inventory.
