The 1816 Capitol Dancers is a group of dedicated volunteers recreating dances from Indiana’s first state capital period (1816-1825). Dressed in period-appropriate clothing, the dancers perform community dances that were popular in the earliest year of our state. Under the direction of Laura Van Fossen, a historian and performer, the dance group brings to life an important social aspect of 200 years ago.
