INPRS is unable to provide the best practice standards for administering any test or examination. A local hired physician must perform all basic tests and examinations and the psychologist must ensure that the MMPI – 3 is being used for the psychological testing.
If those tests or examinations show any abnormal test result, finding, and/or concern, or if there is a specific history of abnormalities or surgical history, then INPRS’ expectation is for the expert, local hired physician, based on their expertise, to determine which tests and/or examinations that should be performed to confirm or disprove the abnormal test result, finding, and or concern.. These additional tests and/or examinations may need to be performed by a specialist in certain situations.
In general, the statewide baseline physical and mental examination requirements are designed to determine if the police officer, firefighter, or school resource officer can perform the basic essential job duties outlined in the baseline application to be eligible for membership into the 1977 Fund Police and Firefighters’ Pension and Disability Fund.
