Roles and Responsibilities Best Practices 

The administration of the Microsoft Power Platform involves various roles and responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation, security, and governance of the platform. Depending on the size and complexity of your organization, these roles might be combined or divided.

In addition to the existing roles, Microsoft recommends adding the following roles for administration of the Power Platform:

Fabric Administrator:

  • Manages Power BI workspaces, datasets, and reports.
  • Sets up and manages data gateways for data source connectivity.
  • Monitors report usage, performance, and data refresh.
  • Implements security and sharing settings for reports and dashboards.

Governance Officer:

  • Establishes and enforces governance policies for platform usage.
  • Monitors adherence to compliance and data protection regulations.
  • Ensures proper documentation and training for users.

Training and Support Lead:

  • Provides training to users on how to effectively use Power Platform tools.
  • Offers support and troubleshooting assistance to users encountering issues.
  • Shares best practices and tips for optimal usage.

Change Management Coordinator:

  • Plans and oversees the implementation of changes to the Power Platform environment.
  • Communicates changes to stakeholders and manages user adoption.
  • Addresses concerns and manages the transition process.
