  • The IOT Microsoft LCNC CoE team regularly assesses the health and hygiene of all State of Indiana Power Platform environments.
  • The IOT Microsoft LCNC CoE Architect conducted an enterprise-wide assessment of Power Platform usage in 2023. The results of that are shown below. The CoE team can also work with your agency on a focused assessment and provide prioritized recommendations on addressing findings.

Microsoft Access to Dataverse migration.

The MSFT CoE performed a test migration of DLGF data from MSFT Access to Dataverse in an effort to identify potential hurdles and ensure success of the migration. Roadblocks were identified by the MSFT CoE and this project is ongoing between both teams.

Review of Project Requirements/SOR and MSFT Case Management licensing options.

Guided agency on all possible case mgmt. options and licensing costs. From this, the MS CoE empowered IDEM to make the best decision for their needs.

Database Migration Options

Agency goal was to explore cloud-based database options, improve security, lower storage/maintenance costs, and modernize the front-end of their SIMS (Student Information Mgmt. System) application.

Created in depth analysis around modernizing front-end/UI of their SIMS database, options to migrate data to a more secure back-end, and offer solutions to lower system and maintenance costs. The MSFT CoE delivered an SOW and a rough order of magnitude (outlining potential project estimation hours and
costs) to equip them in their decision making.

Budget Tracker application revisions.

Gathered additional business requirements around application enhancements; provided recommendations on how to improve UI/system functionality; delivered potential risks/solutions; Power Platform cost structure; SOW and project effort estimation also delivered to agency.

Migration to MSFT Dataverse for improved security, reporting, automation, and functionality.

The MSFT CoE performed a test migration of DWD data from MSFT Access to Dataverse in an effort to identify potential hurdles and ensure success of the migration. After test migration was completed by the MS CoE, DWD was trained on how to perform the exports and migration themselves.

Move away from relying on Excel spreadsheets. Learn about database options, features, licensing costs, and ability to connect to Power BI.

Instructed IEDC to create an environment that only IEDC has access to. Conveyed importance of having a Dev, Test, and Prod instance vs. utilizing default environment.

Microsoft Dynamics Form Changes

MPH requested guidance editing MSFT Dynamics 365 forms, as well as assurance that any flows and integration with Azure Dev Ops would remain intact.

The MSFT CoE is in the process of analyzing existing forms, relationships, and mappings. The CoE will then create a test solution containing required changes to ensure current functionality is not affected.
