Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs Case Study
The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) and multiple state agencies were facing challenges in efficiently verifying veterans' status for state benefit eligibility using the existing manual process
The task was to develop a system that could securely, reliably, and quickly access the USVA Veteran Verification Lighthouse API to verify veterans' statuses using MuleSoft’s application network.
The IOT Data Exchange team took several steps to accomplish this task:
- Created a MuleSoft application network facilitating secure and standardized access to the USVA Veteran Verification Lighthouse API.
- Delivered the application network to agencies, with ongoing monitoring for compliance purposes.
The MuleSoft application network significantly improved the efficiency and accuracy of veterans' status verification across Indiana state agencies by reducing processing time from several days to just a few minutes while reducing human errors resulting in veterans having quicker access to their entitled benefits. These benefits were realized by other state agencies that adopted the service which promoted efficiency and interoperability within the state’s digital services ecosystem.
