The Indiana Utility
Regulatory Commission has given permission for the boundaries of Greenfield’s
municipally owned electric utility to expand.
Under the
provisions of Cause No. 41671, the Commissioners find that the city can provide
adequate and reliable service to the annexed area. The utility is allowed to annex sixty (60) acres of land near the
intersection of McKenzie Road and Blue Road.
Right now there are two retail customers located on that parcel. All of the owners of the land and both
retail customers have requested that their electrical services be provided by
the City of Greenfield.
The city of
Greenfield provides electric utility service to approximately 7,248 customers
in and around Greenfield.
As part of the
transaction, the city of Greenfield will pay Hancock County REMC d/b/a Central
Indiana Power, $22,465.89.
The order is
effective immediately.
