SERVICE AREA EXTENDED FOR BLUFFTON’S ELECTRIC UTILITY

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has given permission for the boundaries of Bluffton’s municipally owned electric utility to expand.

Under the provisions of Cause No. 41758, forty (40) acres of land located near the City of Bluffton will be served by the city instead of American Electric Power. The annexed area is on the northeast side of the City of Bluffton and is described in the City’s Ordinance No.1097.

Bluffton and AEP believe the changes in the assigned service area boundaries are in the public interest and the commissioners agree.  “We find that the proposed boundary line change is consistent with good utility practice, is in the public convenience and necessity, and will promote efficient and adequate electrical service.”

Bluffton and AEP agree that Bluffton will not compensate AEP for the change in boundaries, and that Bluffton will not pay AEP any severance damages.

The order is effective immediately.
