The Oral History Collection of the Indiana State Library is housed in the Manuscript Section. In the 1970s and early 1980s, the Indiana State Library undertook an extensive oral history project with hundreds of Hoosiers from around the state. This collection now forms the Oral History Collection. The collection also contains donated interviews from other local historians and historical societies throughout the state.
The collection is in different stages of development. Many of the oral histories are transcribed, however, some of the transcriptions are still in the draft stage. Those that are available only in tape format will require considerable advanced notice for use. For additional information on the Oral History Collection please contact the Manuscripts & Rare Books Collection.
