IMLS Hosting Webinar on Helping Job Seekers

IMLS: Helping Job Seekers WebinarIndiana library professionals are invited to participate in a free webinar, Helping Job Seekers: Using Electronic Tools and Federal Resource. The Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration will provide an overview of the public workforce system and present the electronic tools most helpful to library staff who assists unemployed workers.

Participants will also learn how to direct patrons to the right tools for their needs and to find local Workforce System partners. The presentation will include an online tour of the O*NET System, CareerOneStop.org and America's Service Locator as well as occupational crosswalks, job search and resume preparation, and state job banks and labor market information.

The Helping Job Seekers webinar is scheduled for August 11 from 2-3:30 p.m. ET. Registration is required and is currently available via Webjunction.

IPLA Town Hall Meeting Scheduled for August 17

Indiana Public Library AssociationThe Indiana Public Library Association has scheduled a Town Hall Meeting for Tuesday, August 17th, at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) to update public librarians and their supporters about several issues currently affecting public libraries. Sarah Later, of the ILF Legislative Committee, will address the group about the upcoming legislative session, and Larry DeBoer, of Purdue University will talk about the impact of tax caps on Indiana libraries. 

The two-hour Town Hall Meeting will be simulcast at twelve sites around the state.  Registration and further info is available on the IPLA Website.
