Organizational History:
The Indianapolis-Scarborough Peace Games were a multi-sport amateur sporting competition promoting international friendships between residents of Indianapolis and Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. The Peace Games were first formed in 1972 and named after the Vietnam Peace Treaty. The first competition took place during the summer of 1973 in Scarborough. The Peace Games were held every summer, alternating the international competition location between Indianapolis and Scarborough. In 2003, the international competition was cancelled due to cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) reported in Toronto where the competition was to take place. 2004 marked the final year of the Indianapolis-Scarborough Peace Games, and the international competition was held in Scarborough. Decline in participation and economic support were key factors in ending the Games.
