Septic System Permit Process Packet

1. Get Your Soil Tested
   1. Know where your septic system is to be located.
   2. Call a certified soil consultant, a list of names are available at the Henry County Health Department.
2. Complete An Application
   1. A septic permit application from the Henry County Health Department.
   2. You may complete this application at any time.
3. Wait for Technical Specification Data Sheet
   1. Will be completed and in the mail within 48 hours after we receive your application and soil test.
   2. This states what type and size of septic system which is required.
   3. Give a technical specification datasheet to your septic contractor.
4. Contractor Must Provide the Septic System Plan to the Health Department Before an On-site Evaluation is Scheduled.
5. Schedule an On-site Evaluation
   1. This is to review the system plan for the septic system that the contractor has prepared.
   2. When the plan is in compliance with code, a septic permit is issued.
6. Pay for and Receive the Septic Permit
   1. New construction - $225.00
   2. Replacement and/or expansion - $200.00
   3. Repair of a system component ONLY - $75.00
   4. Connect to an existing system - $50.00
   5. Renew an expired permit - $200.00
   6. Commercial projects - $200.00
7. Schedule Final Inspection
   1. Henry County Health Department will do the final inspection of the septic system.
   2. A copy of the final inspection approval will be available on file in our office.
