Welcome to the School Nutrition Programs
Thank you for your interest in providing meals at your school or district through the School Nutrition Programs. On this webpage, you will find information about administering one or more of these programs. Here’s what you need to know to get started.
All School Nutrition Programs including National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and Special Milk Program are administered by the Indiana Department of Education, School and Community Nutrition Division.
Schools and Residential Childcare Institutions (RCCIs) can receive full benefits of School Nutrition Programs provided that the Local Education Agency (LEA):
- Is public or nonprofit private
- If private, is “tax exempt” under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954
A public LEA is one which is operated by and primarily responsible to any level of Federal, State, or local government. A private, nonprofit LEA is one which is not public and is tax-exempt for federal income tax as described above.
