Standards in Essential Need of Support (or SENS) are standards which contain content and skills essential for student success and for which data indicate students are performing significantly below expectations. SENS are both data-driven and content-driven, so they should be updated locally at the school and district level, every school year based on updated information about student performance.
Due to revised prioritized Indiana Academic Standards being published in June 2023, the Indiana Department of Education will not be determining and disseminating state-level SENS based on 2023 ILEARN results. However, determining SENS within your district based on your ILEARN results is still recommended.
