Employer Toolkit: Worker Layoff Assistance
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act
The WARN Act helps ensure advance notice in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs. The U.S. Department of Labor has issued these guides to provide workers and employers with an overview of their rights and responsibilities under the provisions of the WARN Act.
Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)
TAA helps trade-affected workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production out of the United States. TAA program services and benefits are designed to facilitate workers in getting back to work quickly.
Rapid Response
Rapid Response is a pro-active, business-focused, and flexible strategy designed to respond to layoffs and plant closings by quickly coordinating services and providing immediate aid to companies and their affected workers. Rapid Response teams will work with employers and any employee representative(s) to quickly maximize public and private resources to minimize disruptions associated with job loss.
