Patient Life at Central State Hospital - Introduction
Patient Dining Room, built 1899 (83.8 KB)
Patients' lives were ruled by a blaring bell that woke them in the morning, told them when to eat, and when to sleep. Their days passed slowly and were filled with work, sitting on the wards, and for some, schooling. Occasionally, the monotony of hospital life was broken by an evening at the circus or a dance party.
