The Indiana Bicentennial stamp was issued on June 7, 2016 at the Indiana Statehouse. The First Day of Issue event was open to the public. The Bicentennial stamp depicts an Indiana sunset over a cornfield on a country road, a memory every Hoosier can recall. The picture illustrated on the stamp was taken by Michael Matti, a native of Milford, Ind.
Governor Mike Pence and First Lady Karen Pence joined the Indiana Archives and Records Administration on June 29, 2016 in Clark County to commemorate one of Indiana's founders, Jonathan Jennings. This event marked the final ceremony in a series of graveside memorials honoring constitutional delegates buried in Indiana. These IARA events honoring the state's founders are an officially endorsed Bicentennial Legacy Project.
On June 29, 2016 Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb, Indiana Office of Tourism Development Executive Director Mark Newman, Indiana Farmers Mutual President and CEO Kim Smith and Bicentennial Torch Relay State Director Noelle Szydlyk unviled the names of more than 2,000 Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay torchbearers as well as the official torchbearer uniforms at the Indiana Statehouse.
