IOT FY 2025 Rates
IOTlogo

The State Budget Agency has approved the Indiana Office of Technology's FY 2025 rates. IOT, a revenue-neutral agency, has always prioritized maintaining excellent services while working to minimize rate increases.

This year, some rates are reduced, some will remain the same, while others will increase to offset rising technology costs. On average, rates are increasing by 8%.

To note, Seat charges will be going up, with IOT re-negotiating costs with Microsoft, and physical and virtual server hosting costs will be rising due to a decreasing number of servers, but requiring the same level of infrastructure.

You can see all the rates and products in the IOT service catalog. This document is a central place to find information about services provided by IOT, including how to

  • request a service,
  • request help if you have an issue with a service,
  • monitor the progress of your requests,
  • resolve billing issues
  • how to terminate a service.

IOT operates on a charge-back model; it does not make a profit from its services. To figure out ways to potentially reduce an agency's bill, IOT has a billing dashboard to graphically represent agency spending and provides tips on reducing usage. If you cannot access the billing dashboard, the agency Financial Manager or Controller should contact their agency's security coordinator to request access.

IOT Annual Security PEN Test schedule
The Big Picture: IOT has started planning for the annual penetration test, partnering with Hoplite to test the state's enterprise network and IOT-managed cloud infrastructures.

The scope of the PEN test will focus on the on-prem server environment and IOT-managed cloud infrastructures, scanning for standard and privileged accounts that could be potentially compromised, examining the opportunities for lateral movement across the enterprise, and checking for any known and exploitable vulnerabilities.

What's next: Over the next six months, IOT Security Operations team members will coordinate and collaborate with our agency partners, and Hoplite to coordinate the testing, and ensure that we have all the assets included in the tests needed. Agency liaisons will continue be the primary contacts, and they can include other staff for awareness and participation as needed.

Schedule: The tentative PEN test schedule has been put together and is included here.

Should you be aware of any events that are scheduled to occur during your scheduled time that this PEN test could impact, please let us know and we will work with you to reschedule.  In addition, it will be great if you can please identify resources available during the scan times to ensure open lines of communication between our agencies.

Outcome: Hoplite will produce categorized results and recommendations for prioritization and remediation, and IOT will share the results on an agency-by-agency basis. If a security issue is identified with urgent actionable needs, we will contact your agency prior to the conclusion of the testing.

As in prior years’ PEN tests, please feel free to contact iotpentest@iot.in.gov if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you in advance for your support and collaboration.

With the proliferation of conference calls, especially as they work globally to bring jobs to Indiana, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) found that they needed to modernize its video conferencing equipment. IOT and its partners worked with the IEDC to evaluate several of its conference rooms to determine what type of equipment and technology would meet its needs. In the end, IEDC wanted something simple in design, easy to use, and reliable. IOT helped deliver a setup that met all of its needs.

The IEDC now has conference rooms and an executive boardroom that look professional, support multimedia presentations, and have enjoyed rapid adoption by the employees. IOT similarly has conference rooms and focus rooms filled with this technology.

If you are interested in learning how IOT can assist you, contact your business relationship manager, put in a ticket to the IOT Helpdesk, or email IOTTelecomServices@iot.IN.gov.

Behind the Tech: Jim Morris
Jim Morris photo

Jim Morris is an Enterprise Architect at IOT, delivering value by presenting business and IT leaders with recommendations for adjusting policies and visions to achieve strategic business outcomes.

An average day for Jim is spent supporting the Business Relationship Managers (formerly liaisons). The strategic intake process flows through EA to ensure requests are within strategic directions. He communicates with other architects and subject matter experts constantly to ensure "we have the capabilities to support the agency requests as needed. We often like to say, “We have hard conversations and draw pretty pictures," he said.

What is his favorite part of his job?

"My favorite part of my job is the team I work with. Often, we hear that communication is a problem, so we strive to be strong communicators. Part of what we’re seeing is that we’re consistently on the same page, and constantly help make each other better."

What does he hope to take away from his work at IOT?

"I hope to take away humility of consistently failing in helping folks thrive. Meaningful success is the result of failure."
