Reminder: Digital States Survey
Like clockwork, ever two years all states are asked to complete the Center for Digital Government’s Digital States Survey to examining best practices, policies and progress state governments make in using digital technologies to serve citizens better and streamline operations. Indiana has performed well over the past four surveys, earning ‘A-‘ grades.
To move to an ‘A’ or ‘A+’ will require participation and we want all agencies responding, whether large or small, so that your hard work is recognized appropriately. Emails have been sent out to the IT Directors and communications staff of your agency. If you haven't already, please submit your responses by April 26.
Agency participation has decreased in each of the past three surveys.
We are already one of the best states in using digital technology, and this survey should demonstrate that accomplishment.
Agencies should submit their responses at:

All submissions from agencies are due by Friday, April 26. If you have any questions, contact Graig Lubsen.
Indiana Public Sector Cybersecurity Summit set for June 5
The 2024 Indiana Public Sector Cybersecurity Summit returns on June 5, providing an opportunity for government technology professionals to learn about the latest efforts to defend, respond and recover from cyber criminals who wish to do harm.
The Summit will include cybersecurity leaders from state and local government throughout Indiana.
"The first Indiana Public Sector Cybersecurity Summit was extremely successful, and I'm excited to continue this series. The Summit stands as a pivotal gathering for both security experts and programmatic business owners from the private and public sectors. This now annual event plays a crucial role in our ongoing efforts to protect Hoosiers from cyber threats capable of interrupting everyday life and hindering service provision. Additionally, it serves as a platform to expose and educate our future workforce about the cybersecurity industry. I am looking forward to the chance to meet everyone face-to-face at the 2024 event, where we can share insights on the newest trends, training, and strategies to strengthen our state's defense against cyber threats.” – Tracy Barnes

Fourth annual GWIT Summit
The fourth annual 2024 Government Women in Technology (GWIT) Annual Summit was attended by multiple employees, both men and women, across state agencies this past month.
This year, the theme was 'Tech for Good,' aimed to highlight the positive aspects of technology rather than dwell on digital threats and concerns over artificial intelligence. Technology can serve as a potent force for positive change and we want to highlight the positive impact state government is making through technology.
A huge thank you to speakers Governor Eric Holcomb, Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Chief Equity, Inclusion and Opportunity Officer Karrah A. Herring, State Health Commissioner Dr. Lindsay Weaver, Diane Walker-Hollingsworth, and Marianne Cardwell, for their invaluable presence at GWIT's Summit.

IOT Full Stack Observability - APM Day
The Indiana Office of Technology hosted the fifth Application Performance Management (APM) Day this month at the Indiana State Library with almost 100 attendees from 35 state agencies. Agency CIOs, application owners, network engineers, application developers, agency program leads, and program stakeholders heard from Cisco FSO product experts, success stories from current agencies within the state on APM, and learned how application security plays a major role in digital transformation. |
Behind the Tech: Jim Weaver
Jim Weaver is one of the IOT system administrators for our current ITSM Tool – Alemba Service Manager. His main area of responsibility is on the workflow side. Since he's been at IOT, Jim has developed nearly 350 workflows with requests coming in for new workflows each week. Some of the workflows are as small as 3-4 tasks and some of them have over 100 tasks. What does an average day look like? "One of the things I like about this job – each day is different. One day I may be working on a workflow for IOT or writing PowerShell scripts, the next I’m learning about Grants Management or Housing and Community Development Awards so I can build workflows supporting them. I get to work with different agencies and help support their business processes. What is his favorite thing about his job? "People – the people that work for the State of Indiana are generally very friendly and willing to work together on projects or processes. I’ve enjoyed working with people from many agencies. You can always learn something that way. Never stop learning!" |
