IOT Now Collecting AI Uses in Archer

As directed by SEA 150 (2024), IOT, working with MPH, has established fields in Archer to collect an inventory of all artificial intelligence technologies that are in use, being developed or considered by state agencies.

Agencies are expected to complete this form annually by November 1. The IOT Resiliency team will provide a comprehensive introduction to the AI fields during the Criticality Index Update project.

More information and reminders will come in 2025.

New Authentication System Rolling Out to Agencies

Big Picture: As you may know, the State is moving to Okta for multi-factor authentication (MFA).

What’s Happening: You may have already received an email or will soon be receiving an email about implementing a seamless Single Sign-on (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for our business applications, such as Office 365, VPN and PeopleSoft. IOT is introducing Okta to agencies on a rolling basis. Be on the look-out for emails in the future.

Okta will eventually replace the existing Microsoft MFA that you use today, BUT users should NOT delete the Microsoft Authenticator application until IOT lets you know.

Communications will be regularly sent to your agency. Contact your agency's IT Director or IOT's Business Relationship Management (BRM) team for more information.

Behind the Tech: James Armstrong

James Armstrong is the IOT Linux Systems Admin Manager, where he works to improve the delivery and services that Linux can provide. It's a mixture of projects, some planning for new opportunities, and improvements of current processes.

"Each day varies (like it does for all of us!), but I enjoy it because it’s a balance of technical, strategic planning, and team collaboration."

What's his favorite thing about his job?

"It's the Linux team. Working with this team to help provide solutions for our customers. We get along and enjoy working with each other - it makes the day-to-day enjoyable."

"Coming to IOT got me recentered about why I've been in IT for 25 years to begin with, and that is for customer service. IT is service-based, there to help the business be successful.

Taking away from IOT, I would like to help make sure that we provided the best service we could, and at the end of the day the customers were successful, and they appreciated that IOT, and the Linux team, were there to help them."
