Biographical Note:
William Pinckney Fishback was born on November 11, 1831, in Batavia, Ohio. He attended Miami University of Ohio and Farmer’s College (Ohio). He studied law under his father and practiced with him until moving to Indianapolis, Indiana. He opened a law office in Indianapolis in 1857. From 1870 to 1872, he was editor of the Indianapolis Journal. Fishback moved to St. Louis to join the staff of the St. Louis Democrat (1872-1874). He then returned to Indianapolis and the practice of law. He died on January 15, 1901.
