Biographical Note:
Ulrich Zwingle Wiley was born on November 14, 1847, near Madison, Indiana. He attended Hanover College (1864-1867) and North Western Christian (Butler) University law school. He married Mary A. Cole in 1874. They had four children. He moved to Benton County, Indiana, in 1874, and finally settled in Indianapolis. Wiley was the Benton County attorney (1875-1877); judge of the 30th Circuit (1892-1896); and judge of the state Appellate Court (1897-1907). He died on January 5, 1929.
