The Brown County Health Department now has Naloxone
The Brown County Health Department is now a distributor of Naloxone. Naloxone is also known by the trade name Narcan. Naloxone is a non-narcotic medication that reverses life-threatening respiratory failure that is usually the cause of overdose deaths. Anyone in need of Naloxone may pick it up from the Health Department during normal business hours, M-F from 8-4, while supplies last. Training in Naloxone administration and training in recognizing signs and symptoms of an overdose will be required at the time of Naloxone pick up. An individual wishing to pick up a dose of Naloxone from the Health Department does not need a prescription from a healthcare provider to do so. Other Naloxone distribution locations can be found at www.optin.in.gov
