Bed bugs have recently enjoyed a resurgence in Indiana, with more than a 500% increase seen since 2002. Because they are not known to spread disease, there are no laws regarding them. They can be VERY DIFFICULT to get rid of because they hide in cracks, crevices, under carpeting, in furniture joints, inside mattresses, box springs, couches, and other upholstered surfaces where "bug bombs" will not adequately reach. They can live for nearly a year with no food (blood meal).
DO NOT PICK UP FURNITURE FROM THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! Chances are it was thrown out because of a bed bug infestation.
