Ms. Herring is a career prosecutor with over 15 years of experience serving several Indiana counties. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University, where she co-founded a disability advocacy group and received the national Outstanding Disability Advocacy Award. She was also honored with the Elvis J. Stahr Distinguished Senior Award for exemplary academics and community service.
Ms. Herring obtained her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Dayton School of Law, where she earned multiple awards for her commitment to pro bono work and community service. Her legal career began in Elkhart County, where she handled cases ranging from misdemeanors to major felonies. In St. Joseph County, Ms. Herring led the Special Victims Unit, prosecuting cases involving sexual assault, domestic violence, and crimes against children. She joined the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office in 2020 as Chief Deputy Prosecutor, playing a key role in establishing Hancock County’s first Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. She actively serves on multiple local boards and initiatives focused on child advocacy and community safety.
