Town Compost Center

If you live in the city limits you are not allowed to burn leaves or twigs in your yard, however there is a compost center at the Waste Treatment Plant where you can take grass clippings, leaves and organic garden waste to a compost pile to become soil again. Small limbs and woody debris can be chipped, there is a separate collection pile for wood that will not easily break down in compost. Some people who are not residents are using this area and leaving large non-compost items. There is a $500 fine for unauthorized use or dumping trash at the site. Please let us know if you observe contractors in the compost area, they are never authorized to leave materials.

Compost hours for residents: weekdays 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday noon to 4:00 p.m.
