History of Lynn

The Town of Lynn is located 85 miles east of the state capitol, Indianapolis, and 6 miles west of the Ohio state line. The town has two US Highways that intersect 27 and 36.  The Town has a population of around 1,200 and that has not changed much since the beginning of 1847.

A little history of Lynn: The Town of Lynn was originally two sections. Consisting of Lynn and West Lynn. Lynn was platted by Daniel Freestone in 1847, and West Lynn was platted by Phillip Brown in 1850. The name Lynn is believed to be from the Quaker Lynn Meeting House. The meeting house was built by logs by Quakers who settled the area after travelling from Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and the Carolinas.
